I was raised in a Christian home and my parents did their best to instill a Christian worldview in my life. My parents took me to church every Sunday and Pastor Monroe preached the gospel. Being a young kid, I didn’t really understand what this whole “Christianity” thing was.
When I reached 7th grade I attended my first Youth Camp – it was amazing! Little did I know that this would be where I would make the most important decision of my life. On the last night of camp, our speaker, Eddie McGath, was giving an evangelistic message. During the invitation, God spoke to my heart. I knew that I wasn’t saved and if I died, I would be in Hell. That night I made the important decision to give my life to Christ.

By the time I reached high school, I was doing well in school, made a lot of friends, and even won a state title in football. Our youth pastor Mr. Edwards gave me some opportunities to preach during our “Souled Out” youth service on Wednesdays. In my Junior year I really began thinking about what I wanted to do with my life. I decided that I would join the National Guard. I was one signature away from becoming a soldier until my dad told me, “Jack, think about this decision.” So, I took his advice and when I went to Youth Camp that year, I felt God calling me to prepare to become a Pastor.
In August 2022, I will be attending Bob Jones University to Major in Business Finance with a minor in Biblical studies. The Youth Ministry at FBT has done so much for me. It helped me become closer to God each and every day. Events like Choir Tour, Youth Camp, and weekly Sunday School have provided me with a Biblical worldview. I encourage parents to involve your teens in the Youth Ministry of FBT. If they don’t know God, they will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and perhaps make the best decision of their lives.
